Excited – new excerpt from my new book!!

You are the one of the first to read an excerpt from my new book.  I’m in the midst of writing it and I was too excited too wait (as writing a book is like climbing everest but I am determined to write it all in a month).

How do you build a solid foundation?

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who build his house on the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it – Matthew 24:2

It's ok to be YOU!

The only thing you can ever change in life – as I have found this out several times – is YOU!

Now as I said before you are not broken so you don’t need fixing but what you do need to do is to discover who you really are. In this chapter I will bring to light why you don’t know who you are and what is hampering you being the person you are. That’s sounds like a contradiction but go with me and read this chapter.

If we try and change circumstances and other people it always leads to us feeling angry and anxious because we are out of control. We simply can’t do it and that is why thinking positively about a situation or a person will help immensely.

But we find ourselves in places or being around people that we don’t actually want to be around and thus knowing what are likes and dislikes are is going to really build a firm foundation for the journey called “life”.

When I was writing this chapter I remembered the song I sung at Sunday School, the man who built his house upon the rock and hence the quote from the bible at the beginning of this chapter.

I am not at all religious but I felt that this was a great analogy to use and this is what this chapter is all about creating a firm foundation as you will be strong enough to face anything and with that solid foundation you build a successful life on top (whatever success means to you).

How can you build your solid foundation?  What does that mean to you?

I hope you enjoyed a sneaky peak at what I am writing.  I would love your comments.

Enjoy – until next time when I will share even more of my book.

How to Surrender?

Over the past few months when my life has seemingly gone off the rails I have learnt how to surrender and as people say “go with the flow”.  I thought I would share with you some tips that have served me well. As my life was going off the rails I looked deeply at what I was like as a person.  All my life I have pushed things and got stressed out when they didn’t happen and so I decided to take a different route. I asked for guidance from the universe on this and I got the words “trust and surrender”.

What stops us from taking action and how to overcome it?

What the hell does that mean?

I thought to myself if I didn’t push towards my goals then I would be wasting time and wouldn’t get there.  All fear based.  I thought about it and realised that when I’ve been pushing towards my goals I haven’t been seeing where I was going – I was blinded and only saw the goal.  Do you know how that feels when you don’t even see your successes? As I was in the process of finding out what trust and surrender meant and I came across this quote:-

“You can’t build a new life on an old paradigm.

Don’t expect yourself to know the steps in the dance when you have never heard the music.

Easy does it.  Be curious, be humble and be teachable”

This quote really resonated with me.  I didn’t know the steps and my ego was having a field day telling me I couldn’t do it and how can I get there if I don’t know etc etc.

I surrendered!!!

IMG_0246

So I did surrender to the unfolding of my life and it feels good.  I know what my goals are but I’m not focusing on how to get there.  I trust and believe that I will be shown the way.  I now hear the birds signing in the morning, I now notice when I’m laughing with my children, I now see the steps that will take me to my dreams and desires. Here are the five tips that I thought I would share with you so that you also trust and surrender to what ever is unfolding in your life:-

  1. Be open and willing to learn more – about yourself and the opportunities that will present themselves.  Don’t have any perceptions on what it will look like.
  2. Don’t stress – do what you can with what you have.
  3. Trust and believe in your self – you can do this!
  4. See the beauty in everything and give thanks to what you already have.
  5. Stop pushing – allow things to come to you.

I hope these tips help you with whatever challenges you are facing in your life.

Let me know how you get on with these tips.

Until next time.

How to reconnect with who you are?

Working over the years with my clients and my own self discovery work I find that many ask me this profound question and one I think that many of you will be asking yourselves-  “How do I reconnect with who I am?”

I know over the years I lost my sense of being when I became a mother because you tend to pour everything into your children.  Also playing the role of mother, business woman, wife, sister and daughter has left me feeling disconnected with MYSELF

This is where I meet a lot of my clients who are asking the same question.  They are feeling disconnected with their life, feeling unhappy and know deep down there is something more.

Be yourself!

I have a secret I want to share with you!

One way we get lost that the core of these problems lie with the bond with your mother.  It feels like my clients cannot become who they want to be because of expectations that has been passed down generation to generation.  Like the “rules” of society that we are all trying to fit into.  However, this covers us in a visibility cloak (just like Harry Potter) where you can’t see the real you and neither can others.  When we take this cloak off we are left with the question “who am I”.

It took a tragedy in my family to really “wake me up” to the possibility that I was not being the person that I came here to be.  I found out that all my family had the same digestive problems, the same emotional problems and the list goes on.  I thought it must be hereditary and something which I couldn’t do anything about.  I will always remember one of my clients say to me that her mother had depression and her grandmother so she was waiting for the moment she became depressed.  That comment made me very sad because we CAN do something about, it is not hereditary, it is a learnt behaviour.  The good news is that if it is learnt, we can un-learn it.  Magic!!

Get excited about what you love!

Are you the youngest in your family?

The other thing I have learnt over the years is that it is always the youngest child that will want to explore this mother-daughter bond because it gets to a point of extricating pain, it can no longer be passed down to the next generation.

As some of you will know, if you have worked with me, I don’t like nonsense, I tell you how it is and I want to get straight to the core because I know that is where I will impact people’s lives.  I can do the other stuff, the softly, softly approach but I am not being of service to you when I know a quicker way. When I started on my self discovery path 15 years ago I started with the layers, and I’m sure you know that every therapist or coach says you have to peel away at the layers and this takes years and years.  If like me you want instant results and profound changes you need to start at the very core.

This is where I start with my mother and daughter bond – pulling that invisibility cloak away to reveal the person inside, I’m not trying to change you, I simply want to reveal the truth.

To help you move forwards today to reconnecting with who you are below are four things that are really important:-

  1. understand your values;
  2. create rules that fit in with your values and beliefs;
  3. trust your feelings – you do know best;
  4. explore what you love to do

These will instantly reconnect you with the truth of who you are.

If you want to explore the mother-daughter bond, for the first time, I am doing a one day workshop to help you to understand why this is important.

What stops us from taking action and how to overcome it?

This week I have been socialising with a group of friends that aren’t into self-development and they were talking about how rich they would like be. They want to be famous etc. and I began to think about what made people successful and why some people achieved their dreams and desires and others didn’t.  Then I watched a film, ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’.  If you haven’t watched it, he was a normal guy, who lived his life very carefully, going to work and saving money for his family like a million other people.  He daydreamed all day about what he would say to people, how he would be a hero and an adventurer but did nothing about it. An opportunity came up and he grabbed the chance to visit Iceland and had the time of his life.  This led him on a path of synchronicity where he met various people who would help him achieve his goals.

What did he do?

He took action.

BE AWARE, this is a place where I see most clients STOP!

What stops us from taking action and how to overcome it?

What stops us from taking action?

Why I hear you ask?  Because FEAR shows up and your ego kicks in and tells you all sorts of rubbish like ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘I can’t afford it’ and literally stops you from moving forwards.  Even if you have taken the first steps and up-levelled your life many times (I put my hand up to this), FEAR always rears its ugly head.  It’s how you deal with it and acknowledge it that will help you move forwards easier each time.

“All your dreams and desires are beyond this imaginary line of fear that we set for ourselves” – Ann Hobbs.

So how would it feel if you stepped outside of this ‘fear zone’?  Well let me tell you, in my experience (drum roll please)……. NOTHING!  Nothing ever happens.  The fact is that when we kick fear into touch we feel a sense of achievement, we feel proud of ourselves and we say to ourselves ‘why didn’t I do that earlier, nothing happened’.

Let me share my story with you – I was asked to speak at a big event in Kent, ‘The Vitality Show’ and fear showed up time and time again.  My ego kicked in and told me that I wasn’t good enough, what did I have to share with people blah, blah, blah!  I stood in front of the audience shaking with fear. But when I got into my stride, guess what – I had the time of my life!  People were engaged with what I was saying and at the end I phoned my friend and said ‘I DID IT and it was AMAZ…..ING!’.  If I had listened to my ‘what if’s’ then I wouldn’t have done it and taken a step closer to become an inspirational speaker (one of my desires).

So remember, FEAR keeps our small, it keeps us stuck and unable to move forwards.  Here are my five top tips to overcome fear and get the life you want;

  1. Take action – do something every day that is slightly fearful – even if it’s speaking to people, asking for more business, picking up the phone to ask for support.  Every time you overcome this fear it lessens.
  2. Remind yourself ‘Fear is a load of bollocks’ everyday.
  3. When your mind/ego runs through the ‘what’s if’s’, acknowledge it and laugh.  Affirm something more positive like ‘I can do it’.
  4. Fear is good, it tells us we are on the right track so make friends with it and thank it for letting you know. Ask a better question like ‘How can I overcome this fear’, ‘What do I need to do’, rather than simply ignoring that is isn’t there, as this will leave you stuck and not moving forwards.
  5. Write a list of your achievements where you have won over fear.  This will help you to build up evidence to remind yourself that you can do it even when fear shows up.

Let me remind you that you can realise your dreams and desires if you take the first step and then the next step after that.  I see his happen every day with my clients and in my life.  If we can do it, so can you!

Do you need a “ME” trip? Read about mine…

Do you need time and space to:-

  • Focus on YOU
  • Focus on your dreams
  • Really know who you are
  • Gain clarity on what your next steps are

That’s exactly how I felt last year – just trudging along, not being happy, having no passion for my life or my business. The truth was that I was getting frustrated that my clients were getting amazing results but I wasn’t! I forgot to give myself time and space too! Something needed to change.

What did I do?

I STOPPED

Took time out for myself; and
had a “ME” trip

Selfie at the Arc de Triomphe

I booked myself a trip to Paris for ME. I realised this was the first time that I really said YES to myself, allowing myself to have time and space away from my family. It felt scary! I had given the last 20 years to my family, to my husband, to my work and forgot about myself. Although I have done a lot of self-development over the years I found myself in a place where I didn’t really know what I want, I wasn’t passionate about my life, I felt lost, overwhelmed, and I knew deep down I needed to give myself time and space away from my family.

Since then my “ME” trip everything has change!!

When you travel, you are, in a very practical way,
experiencing rebirth” – Paulo Coelho

Paris was a wonderful experience, a place full of passion and love. I had a wonderful time making croissants and spending time with a mentor working on me and my business.

After Paris I felt more alive and more in line with my dreams and desires. I’m still the mist of change in my life which I am loving, I’m making very big changes in my life and at last I am having a voice of what I want.

I gave myself 4 days to stop and concentrate on what I wanted. At the beginning I was scared to tell people that I have having a “me” trip. I had comments from colleagues and family about why I wanted a “me” trip but I knew this was something I wanted. I find as women we are afraid to say that we are taking this time out for ourselves. We are scarred that people might that we are being selfish and just doing what we want, how bad does that look. It’s not – it your life, no one else’s and this is valuable time that you can give to yourself.

One my lovely clients, Alison wanted 6 months sabbatical from her work to have ME time but she had resistance saying that hiding behind I want to travel (which wasn’t her truth) and so therefore it wasn’t manifesting in her life. When she got clear that she wanted to spend time doing the things she loved for her, yoga, walking etc within a few weeks her work place offered her a 6 month sabbatical and she is enjoying telling people that this is time for herself, not travelling or for others but simply for HER.

It is not selfish – it is a necessity in order for you listen to what you want. In order to really listen for the next steps we need to STOP. We can be so busy in our lives and forget what are passions are and what we want in life. We become confused, overwhelmed and simply lose that connection with our inner being.

ME doing what I love and feeling ALIVE

That is why I am so excited to be able to tell you that I’m going back to Paris in July and I am opening up 4 spaces for women to come and do their 1 day intensives.

These 1 day intensives are all about YOU. To help you find your passion for your life, to help you overcome fear and doubts and to feel ALIVE. If I can do it – so can you!!

All you need is time and space and a different environment.

Sign up at www.annhobbs.co.uk for a free initial consultation to see if this is the right fit for you.

Do You Need Coaching?

YES – YOU CAN’T DO IT ALONE! A lot of people I meet ask me these questions:- Why do I need you, I can do it myself? Can’t I read all about it in books? The answers is yes, of course you can but if you want to see significant results and changes in your life – YOU CAN’T DO IT ALONE.

SespairIf you don’t get help then you will keep going round and round in circles, feeling overwhelmed and unable to move forwards.  This is where most of my clients find me, they can’t figure it out on their own.  One of my clients was struggling for 2 years with finding what she wanted to do with her life, trying to find answers at workshops and in books.  She found me and within working with me for 2 weeks we had IT, we ended her struggle. Some people find it is a weakness to ask and pay for help.

BUT if you don’t:-

– you will always be trying to FIND the answers

– you won’t move forwards in your life

 – you will feel stuck

That is why you need me!!

Anne H

Stop being a martyr, stand up for your dreams and allow yourself to get some help.  I provide two things for my clients, they are support and belief.  Without these vital ingredients my clients would not be able to get the transformations they desire.  It is a team effort.

me + you = accelerated success

So in fact you are one the strongest, more courageous people to go and find that help, it’s not weak, it’s a known fact that in order to move forwards you need to do things in a different way. If I did not ask for help when I was struggling years ago I would not know be in a position to teach others.  The thing is, I wouldn’t have been able to do it on my own – I needed answers so I began my quest to find them. So if you want a new level experience in your life then please sign up for my free consultation at www.annhobbs.co.uk to see if I can help.

Look out for next week’s blog for my exciting one day intensives in Paris.

I’M NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Do you know that this is the no.1 belief that I have to work on with my clients?  I can guarantee that this will show up in your life if you are playing a bigger game and this is why I thought I would blog about it today and give you some effective steps to bust through this belief.

It does only 1 thing!!!

IT KEEPS YOU STUCK.  You can’t move on and have MORE, more life, more health or more wealth until this belief is once and truly buried.

A lot of my clients feel like they can’t have more until they feel worthy of it all.  That is not true!  We all deserve more, NOW.

How it shows up in your life?

When you are saying things like:-

“I don’t have enough money”

“I don’t have enough time”

“I don’t have enough love”

“I don’t have enough respect”

“I don’t have enough clients”

Although you are projecting on external things like not enough money, really the question is that you don’t “FEEL” enough.  So if you are feeling there is any lack in your life then this is the first belief that you must change.

Who told you, you weren’t enough?

I know from my own experience that I have felt like this most of the life.  My teachers at school told me that I weren’t good enough and I have gone through my life believing them.  But let me tell you that you are good enough!  In fact ………………

“YOU ARE AMAZING”

How to overcome it?

Me being amazing in Paris

My top 3 tips to overcome “I’m not good enough”

1.         Shine a light on this belief every time it comes into your life and then affirm “I am good enough”.  Don’t give it any emotion or power, a thought is just a thought unless you believe it.

2.         Write down everything that you are good at.  I know that there are some things that I am not good at but others I excel it, so focus on what your strengths are.

3.         Celebrate your amazing-ness!  Buy yourself a gift for being amazing.  I love fresh flowers so I like to buy myself flowers and have them in the home.  What do you love to buy to reward yourself?

If you are serious about wanting MORE in your life please click on my link for a free discovery session at www.annhobbs.co.uk.  That’s my amazing-ness – I absolutely know where to find your amazing-ness.  It’s simple when you know how.

The Truth of You!

What we believe about ourselves isn’t true!  That is where the myth is.  So whatever role you think you are portraying today isn’t the truth of who you are at all.

Do you feel that you have failed in your life?

Do you feel you should be more beautiful, thinner etc?Exif_JPEG_PICTURE

Do you feel you should be making more money?

Do you think you should be better?

Do you feel like you should have all the answers?

Then I’m here to tell you that NO, you don’t need to feel any of the above because they are not true.  This is the myth that is keeping you small.  Your own perception of who you are is the key to you gaining success in your all areas of your life.

It is really sad that women feel this way about themselves, what I see in my clients is beautiful people going for their dreams. They are courageous and strong and nothing else enters my mind.  I feel sad for them that they do not see this aspect of themselves.

However, we all do it, even me!!  I sometimes have to remind myself that I am an amazing woman and this is my message to you today.

Ask yourself “Who am I?” then start affirming and visualising the amazing woman you really are.  Love every aspect of yourself and believe me you will start to feel empowered to get the life you want.

Ultimately this is the truth of you!!

If you want some help in finding clarity in the truth of who you are then click here for my free discovery session.

Cheers to all you amazing women out there!

Follow the yellow brick road ……

…… even if you feel it is the wrong one!!!

Have you had the success that you wanted this year?ann-hobbs-empowerment-coach-picture

Do you feel that you are on the wrong path?

Is this year leaving you frustrated?

Then I can tell you that there is success in everything you do, even if you think it is the wrong path.  This week’s blog will help you to have more trust and faith in the Universe and help you have the Freedom to Fly!

In October, someone very successful, said to me “just follow what presents”.  I felt frustrated at this comment and said “what if there isn’t any steps to follow”.  He laughed and said “that’s impossible, there will always be steps to take”.

This comment had been playing on my mind over and over and it wasn’t until a month later that this rang true!  I veered off my path, the path I thought I should be doing.  I ended up in the wrong place, speaking to the wrong people (or so I thought) and got something that I didn’t really want.  I decided to heed the advice and follow what presented.  I’ve no idea what this opportunity would bring me or teach me but I felt excited all the same.

I decided to let go of the control and put trust and trust in the Universe that this was the right step for me to take at this time.  I felt good to do something without an agenda and go with the flow.

Now if any of you know me, this is simply not like me!!!  I like to be in control and sometimes I micromanage (my new word) everything.  I decided this wasn’t working for me so I surrendered and it felt good!

This is where I see a lot of my clients, feeling frustrated, out of control and not living the life they want because they are trying TOO HARD!!!  They are missing all the steps that are presenting itself to them.

My advice for this week is to put trust and faith in what is presenting and just go for it!!!  Even if you think it is the wrong path to take.  Don’t micromanage anything in your life, just go with the flow and follow the yellow brick road.

If you want any help and support on opening up to your yellow brick road then please click on the link for a free consultation.  I’m here to be of service to you.
